A floating monitor sounds especially appealing when your actual desk is the end of a kitchen table. XREAL Aura is taking orders, but the practical buying question starts below eye level: where will the little computer and its cable go?
XREAL’s October 28 launch statement sets U.S. promotional prices at $1,099 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, or $1,299 for 16GB/512GB. The offer runs through December 2026 for standalone purchases, with local terms in each launch market. Shipping is expected to begin in mid-November. An order confirmation is not a delivery date.
Start with the cable and the fit
These are transparent Android XR glasses connected to a separate compute puck. Google explains that the puck houses the battery and main processing hardware. That is how the company keeps the glasses themselves light; it does not make the whole setup disappear into a pair of ordinary spectacles.
For laptop mirroring, Google specifies a USB-C cable that supports video output. Check your computer’s port and the cable you plan to pack. A plug that fits is a poor substitute for checking what the connection can carry.
XREAL lists two fit ranges: M for a 60–66 mm interpupillary distance, and L for 66–72 mm. That is the distance between your pupils. Resolve the size and any prescription-lens requirements before choosing a storage tier. We have not worn Aura, so we cannot tell you how comfortable its edges, text or weight will feel after a working afternoon.

Check the country, account and apps
Google’s dated announcement says orders opened October 28 in the U.S., Canada and Korea, with Japan following November 2. XREAL’s press release includes Japan in its opening-day wording. Those sources disagree; Japanese buyers should check the local store rather than assume immediate availability.
Google also specifies an eligible account and age 18 or over. App and streaming availability still varies: its own workspace demonstration notes that Peacock is U.S.-only. A large app catalog does not establish that your particular work or entertainment setup will transfer unchanged.
Already ordered? Check the price adjustment
XREAL’s product page says earlier buyers will receive the hardware-price difference: $180 on the smaller configuration or $200 on the larger one, based on the original prices. Keep your order details handy and check the adjustment against the configuration you bought.
Our suggestion is to write down one job these glasses must do well. Reading a dense spreadsheet, watching a film and mirroring a handheld are different tests. Try that job during any applicable return period, after checking the seller’s terms. The launch discount is useful only if the device earns its place in your bag.
