- Apple explicitly excludes Siri AI from this China rollout.
A phone can have an Apple Intelligence announcement attached to it and still be missing the assistant feature you had in mind. Apple’s new China timetable makes that distinction especially useful.
In its China Newsroom announcement, dated October 31 locally, Apple sets November 4 for developer-beta testing and December for the public iOS 27.3 release. This first rollout is for iPhone; other platforms depend on approvals. It explicitly excludes Siri AI and the other next-generation features announced at WWDC 2026.
Read the small device list
Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 16 and later, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. Device and Siri languages must use the supported English or Simplified Chinese settings. Included features range from translation and Writing Tools to photo cleanup. Alibaba’s Qwen will handle certain requests through Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence; its access requires a Qwen account or Sign in with Apple.
That is a reason to look up the exact feature you want before changing a phone-buying plan. “Apple Intelligence” is a useful umbrella name, but an umbrella name cannot tell you whether a particular task works on your device.

A familiar Siri name can mean a different rollout
The October 26 Siri AI announcement describes a separate expansion to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish alongside English. Its 27.2 beta has device, language and age restrictions, plus EU exclusions on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Adding a language there does not establish availability in mainland China.
Our practical suggestion is to make a three-line note before an upgrade: the job you want the assistant to do, your exact device, and the region in which you will use it. Then match those details to the release that actually covers you. A demonstration from another market is a poor substitute for that check.
For an everyday phone, we would wait for public-release details and compatibility guidance to catch up before making plans around a beta. November 4 is a testing milestone, not a reason to assume the feature will be waiting on every eligible phone that morning.
